Our Mission

2nd Chance Management, Inc payee services is a 501(c)(3) licensed and bonded serving both Virginia and North Carolina. Our mission is to provide professional representative payee services for social security and supplemental social security beneficiaries, who have been identified as needing assistance with managing their benefits. We are dedicated to stabilizing and maintaining critical life needs, and managing funds in the best interest of the beneficiary.

Who do we help?

2nd Chance Management, Inc. assists all who are experiencing financial obstacles, including those with disabilities, low income, or receiving Social Security/Veteran benefits.

Here are a few examples of who we help: 

If you receive Social Security Benefits

The Social Security Administration (SSA) assumes that adult beneficiaries are capable of managing their funds unless there is legal, medical or other evidence to the contrary. SSA appoints a representative payee when a beneficiary is determine incapable of managing their monthly benefits.

If you are experiencing financial difficulties

Persons experiencing financial difficulties may need temporary assistance in managing their financial affairs. We have programs that are designed to help individuals in those situations.

WHAT WE OFFER

Our Services

PROVIDE

We provide an allotment for food and personal needs.

ENSURE

We ensure all monthly expenses are paid on time (rent, utilities, phone etc.).

MONITOR

We monitor personal accounts for resources limitations.

REPORT

If employed, we report monthly earned income to Social Security Administration.

FILE

We file required reports to the Social Security Administration with supporting documentation.

ADVOCATE

We advocate for beneficiaries to protect, maintain or reinstate benefits through waiver appeal to the Social Security Administration.

RESOURCES

We help with housing resources to locate affordable units in the area.

COMMUNITY

We help with community resources for (food, utility assistance, shelter etc.)

MENTAL HEALTH

We help with mental health resources.

FINANCIAL LITERACY

We help with financial literacy so you are able to make informed decisions.

HOW IT WORKS

Our Process

Application

Fill out our New Client Application so we can determine if you're a good fit. Click here to apply!

Appointment

2nd Chance will be in contact to discuss next steps like scheduling an appointment with SSA.

Case Worker

We will reach out to your case worker for copies of monthly expenses.

Approval

Once approved, you will be notified, and we complete the clients Payee Application with SSA.

Frequently Asked Questions

How much is your fee?

Our fee is $54/per month for those who receive Federal Entitlement Benefits. Bill Pay Only Clients are those who do not receive ANY Federal Entitlement Benefits yet request our services for help with managing and paying their finances. Bill Pay Only Clients have a fee of $85/per month.

How will I receive my allowance every month?

You will receive your check or pay card by mail. You have the option of a weekly, bi-weekly or monthly payment by check or uploaded on your card.

How can you be reached?

I can be reached by phone, email or scheduled appointments.

Can you assist with housing?

Yes, I provide a list of housing resources in the community.

Do you accept calls after hours?

No, I don’t accept calls after hours, but you can leave a message and expect a return call the following business day.

About Us

2nd Chance Management, Inc. is a 501(c-3) non-profit, payee services corporation located in Richmond, Virginia. We are an organization that provides financial management assistance. We help all who are experiencing financial obstacles, including those with disabilities, low income, or receiving Social Security and/or Veterans benefit. This concept was created by myself as a mental health skill builder and counselor in the community who noticed a need for financial management amongst those who were mentally challenged and had no support system to help  maintain stable housing and everyday needs due to lack of finances.
